Art Journaling for Beginners

Art journaling has long been a trusted companion for artists, travelers, and storytellers. It has held sketches, ideas, memories, and moments meant to be remembered. But beyond documentation, art journaling can become something much deeper. A living space where you meet yourself during times of change, uncertainty, or emotional transition.

When words feel limiting or too linear, art journaling opens another doorway. Through color, texture, and imagery, you can access thoughts and feelings that live beneath conscious awareness. Creative expression has been shown to reveal inner material we may not yet have language for, inviting insight, clarity, and a deeper connection to inner wisdom.

Art journaling is especially supportive during challenging seasons of life. It can help you feel more grounded, empowered, and heart-centered, offering a creative form of self-care that meets you where you are rather than asking you to be anywhere else.

If you already keep a writing journal and feel called to add more depth, art journaling brings a rich visual layer to your reflections. And if you are new to art making, this practice offers a gentle place to begin. Your art journal is a judgment-free zone where messiness is welcome, perfection is unnecessary, and play becomes part of the process.

In this online course, Lisa guides you through the foundations of art journaling along with a variety of approachable, enjoyable techniques to bring your pages to life. You will also learn how to use prompts to stay inspired and how to make your creative practice portable, so your journal can travel with you as a trusted companion.
Your art journal can become more than a book of pages. It can become a place to listen, explore, and reconnect with your creative spirit.
