Wabi Sabi is a Japanese philosophy that invites us to find beauty in what is imperfect, weathered, and naturally unfolding. It reminds us that creativity flows more freely when we release judgment, soften expectations, and allow things to be as they are.

In this course, you’ll explore Wabi Sabi not as a concept to understand, but as something to experience through your hands. Working small and intuitively, you’ll create a handmade Mini Wabi Sabi Book, a quiet vessel that holds texture, imperfection, and presence.

Using a blend of gelli prints, handmade papers, collage, watercolor, fabric, embroidery, and other simple materials, you’ll layer and assemble pages that reflect the subtle beauty recognized through the mindset of Wabi Sabi.

You’ll also learn two easy to follow bookbinding techniques, the tab binding and the saddle stitch, to bring your mini book together in a way that feels both functional and organic.
Your finished book becomes more than an art object. It becomes a small companion, a tactile reminder that beauty lives in imperfection and that your creative spirit doesn’t need to be polished to be meaningful.
