A gentle introduction to creative freedom

Mixed Media Basics + Textured Surfaces

With Lisa Agaran
Mixed media art offers a spacious, permission-giving way to explore creativity without the pressure to be “good at art” or produce a perfect result. It invites curiosity, play, and experimentation, meeting you exactly where you are.
By blending collage, acrylic paint, layering, found objects, and textures, you’ll discover how freeing it can be to work intuitively. This process welcomes spontaneity, happy accidents, and unexpected turns, helping you find beauty in imperfection and trust your creative instincts.
In this online course, Lisa guides you step-by-step through the creation of a mixed media piece with depth, texture, and visual interest. You’ll learn foundational techniques from start to finish and gain a clear understanding of how layers build richness and meaning within a piece.
This course is designed to help you feel confident working with mixed media materials while also giving you space to explore and play. You’ll come away with practical skills and a deeper appreciation for the creative process itself.
If you’re new to mixed media, this course is an ideal place to begin. And if you’re returning to art after time away, it offers a supportive way to reconnect and rediscover the joy of creating.
